Pros
Works in as little as two minutes
Cons
Some reviewers found it sticky
This argan-infused mask is great for all hair types, but it's designed to keep curls looking and feeling their best. "This mask hydrates and strengthens curls without weighing them down," says Malwina Augustyn, a hairstylist and curl expert at Ouidad Salon in New York City.
- Hair types: All curl types
- Size: 7.8 oz
Customer review: "Restored my fine, curly, color-damaged, waist-length hair. Love this product. I use it 3 times a month after using a clarifying shampoo." —Dee B.
What's the difference between hair mask and conditioner?
The main thing is the consistency of the product. "A hair mask is much more concentrated, which allows for deeper penetration to the hair cuticle, whereas a conditioner would be used for more daily use and only gets surface-level coverage," explains Pasi.
But a mask also goes further in repairing hair. "Conditioner helps with detangling and adds moisture, but doesn’t deeply repair your hair," adds Augustyn. "Hair mask is a stronger, deeper treatment for repairing and moisturizing. It works deeper into your hair to fix damage."

How do you use a hair mask?
Each product will have different directions, so read the packaging for specifics. But generally, here's what Augustyn recommends:
- Wash your hair with shampoo and towel-dry it to remove excess water.
- Apply the mask to damp hair, focusing on the ends. Leave it on for about five to 15 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water, and you can use your regular conditioner after if you want.
And how often should you use a mask? "Typically, I would suggest you use a hair mask once or twice weekly, depending on the amount of damage or dryness my client is experiencing with their hair," says Pasi.
